THE BILKING OF REDONDO VOTERS BY OUR OWN ELECTED OFFICIALS The attached captures from Yes on Measure G Mailers clearly demonstrate the deception aimed at the voters during the Measure G campaign. Major themes included: - Protecting 3 1/2 acres of Seaside Lagoon from development - Protecting and enhancing public views of the water - Prohibiting residential development on AES power plant property (Chris Cagle) - Limiting development in the harbor - Adding parkland zoning to the power plant land - Protecting the harbor from over development (Mayor Gin) - Protects and enhances recreational and boating facilities All Councilmen at the time allowed their names on election mailers supporting these statements including Couniclman Aspel, Councilman Aust, and Councilman Kilroy. Now look at recent actions and rhetoric by these same current and former elected officials: - Cagle and Gin, who promoted that Measure G prohibited residential uses on the AES site, wrote a lenghthy op ed article supporting AES initiative and its 600 high density residential development. - The Council has voted to support AES residential zoning with zero public park requirement despite their Measure G sales pitch that it prohibited residential uses and adds public park and recreation uses to the AES site. - The Council has supported the current CenterCal Mall Plan which: - - blocks nearly all public views of the harbor from Harbor Drive - - Over develops the south end of the harbor by increasing development over 130% at densities two to three times that of Plaza El Segundo, Manhattan Village, and any other CenterCal mall project. - - Paving over at least 1/3 of Seaside Lagoon for CenterCals Mall development - - Negative impacts boaters, Stand Up Paddlers, Kayakers and others who use the harbor as a harbor Shame on our elected officials who promised us one thing, but now are supporting and delivering the direct opposite. We expect developers to use underhanded tactics. But one would expect our own local elected officials to be true to their written commitments.
