THE BIOGRAPHY OF A PERFECTIONIST Did you notice that a perfectionist is also a fault finder? A perfectionist sees only imperfections. In a bid to be perfect, he is blind to perfectness. Isn’t it an irony? And he can never be perfect because he does not know what is perfection. He only knows imperfection. He only can find faults and point out errors and count mistakes. But what is perfection? Getting the answer despite making several mistakes; reaching your destination despite falling several times on the way; passing your exams despite NOT scoring 100%; being optimistic despite being severally disappointed; being contented despite not having everything; being righteous despite living in a sinful world, that is perfection. It is a completeness that is not complete; a wholesomeness that is not whole; an excellence that is not excellent; a righteousness that does not always do the right thing; a strength that is weak. Perfection is only by His grace. A perfectionist does not celebrate the goal that is scored because he does not like the scorer or the way it is scored. So a perfectionist is highly sentimental and highly emotional. He is highly sensitive. If you criticize him, you become his worst enemy. If you praise him, you become his best friend. But he will never praise you because he is always focused on the faults. He accuses and discriminates. He is highly judgmental. He does not think. He feels, and he is always carried away by emotions. He is a PASSIONATE LOVER. He loves with all his heart. But he is always emotionally exhausted. And he cannot withstand stress. If you pressurize him, he breaks. He cracks. Don’t tell him a bad news because he will be shattered into pieces. A perfectionist is after all not perfect. He just wants to be perfect and thinks he can attain perfection by his mortal strength.
