THE BITTER COLD IS RIGHT AROUND THE CORNER! PLEASE HELP US HELP COMPANION ANIMALS IN NEED: Farmers Almanac Prediction Winter 2015: The bitter cold, wind, sleet and rain are on their way, and prediction is that Mother Nature will have no mercy on those of us living in the northern most regions of the U.S and beyond. It is bearable for us as humans only because we have the warmth of a home with heat, a comfy couch, food whenever we hunger, and water whenever we thirst. We have the freedom to walk anywhere, anytime we choose. But imagine what it would be like to be tethered to a tree 24/7, 365 days a year with a 40lb. tow truck chain and little respite other than a thin plywood house waiting for the bare essentials. Or being a feral cat without shelter at all, in search of a morsel of food. This winter many dogs and cats will suffer in silence in the icy months ahead. Frostbite and death are all to common for companion animals left in frigid regions. Every year, Guardians of Rescue receives hundred of calls by concerned residents pleading for help for dogs tied up to trees, with well worn circled paths surrounding their houses … their only exercise from their shackled existence. Add to that the hundreds of calls for sick, hungry homeless, street cats, who sometimes lose their fight to freedom from avalanched snow banks, and you have the makings of another very busy winter of rescue. Please help us provide proper shelter for animals in danger of the bone chilling weather. Guardians of Rescue is buying and building insulated housing and continuing our efforts to remove animals from horrific conditions. But we need your help to do all this.
