THE BLANK CHEQUE In 2 Chronicles 1:6, “And Solomon went up - TopicsExpress

THE BLANK CHEQUE In 2 Chronicles 1:6, “And Solomon went up there to the bronze altar before the LORD, which was at the tabernacle of meeting, and offered a thousand burnt offerings on it. This was the altar at Gibeon and with the aid and witness of all the captains, judges, leaders and the father’s houses of Israel (2). Solomon began to offer his sacrifices and from the count of one, it got to ten, from ten to fifty, from fifty to hundred. God might have “thought” he would soon be done. From one hundred to two hundred, to five hundred until Solomon offered a thousand burnt offering! Mine, God’s “nose” and heart must have been FILLED with this PLEASING AROMA and sacrifice. Let’s assume he was “busy” holding a lot of counsel meeting in the morning and now he was through. He does not sleep nor slumber but it was now time when men sleep. For God, that night was not a night to overlook. Verse 7 says, “ON THAT NIGHT God appeared to Solomon, and said to him, ASK! WHAT SHALL I GIVE YOU?” “Ask what shall I give you is simply like writing a Cheque signing it and asking the recipient to fill ANY AMOUNT in it and go and cash it. What a UNIQUE opportunity and privilege Solomon had. But it was not without a cost. It was not a cheap opportunity. Solomon PREPARED for it! Solomon was a GIVER. Like his father, NOTHING was TOO MUCH To offer unto GOD. Today, he reaped the reward. Men have been pleased over and over again in the scriptures and have presented a “blank cheque” to fellow men. By divine favour (after fasting and prayer) and self determination of Esther, King Ahasuerus told her, “What is your petition? It shall be granted you. What is your request, up to half the kingdom? (Esther 5:6) It shall be done!” When Herod’s daughter danced and pleased her wicked father Herod , Mark 6:23 says, “He also swore to her, Whatever you ask me, I will give you, up to half of my kingdom. The only difference it these people are ready to offer up to half their kingdom, but God never limited Solomon when offering his “blank cheque.” Blank cheques are still and always available in heaven, but who would be qualified to receive one? How much does your life PLEASE the Lord? How much extra mile are you ready to go beyond others in satisfying your God? What is your GIVING life like? How much do you channel your FAITH to challenge the heavens. Heb 11:5-6 says, “By faith Enoch was taken away so that he did not see death, and was not found, because God had taken him; for before he was taken he had this testimony, that he pleased God. But without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him.” I challenge you today to be like Solomon. Be different in your ARDENT LOVE for GOD and DEMONSTRATE it. You could be the next person he is handing such a BLANK CHEQUE over to - ASK! WHAT SHALL I GIVE YOU?
