THE BLOCK AUCTIONS: Plenty of talk about this on social media. Here is my 2 cents on it. Contestants go on for three reasons: money, 30 seconds of fame and promote them self in a their specific industry related to the show. So if its for money then the show needs to set the reserve prices lower than expected market value otherwise theres no $$$$ for your 3 months of hard yacka. 30 seconds of fame.... well the statement says it all. Thirdly is self promotion. At the end of the day you are getting the maximum exposure of your brand YOU. what ever it is you do for a dollar is being exposed over all forms of media for three months that big companies shell out millions for. So should the Auction properties not sell and sell well in excess of reserve then their will be a perception of failure. Remembering that in a normal real estate auction or sale nothing including a successful sale is ensured. Quite simple for the show organisers... (vendors/property owners) To ensure a successful auction and more importantly TV show.... Set the reserve price well below expectations and let the bidding begin.
