THE BLOODY FIGHT AGAINST THE RAPIDLY FATAL EBOLA VIRUS DISEASE IN SIERRA LEONE..... WHAT IS THE SIERRA LEONE HEALTH MINISTRY DOING ? Ministry of Health and Sanitation: Emergency Operations Center (EOC) Press Release: Wednesday 6th August 2014 Ebola outbreak update: As of today, 6 August 2014, we have a total of 161 patients who have survived Ebola Virus Disease and subsequently discharged. The total number of new confirmed cases is 32, Kenema 17, Kailahun 12 and Moyamba 3. The total cumulative number confirmed death is 214. The total number of cumulative confirmed cases is 623 with Kailahun 364, Kenema 218; Kono 1; Kambia 1; Bombali 5; Tonkolili 1; Port Loko 8; Pujehun 2; Bo 12; Moyamba 4; Bonthe 1; Western Area Urban 6. As of today, Koinadugu district is the only district that has not registered confirmed cases of Ebola in Sierra Leone. The cumulative number of probable cases is 52 and probable deaths 34 while the total cumulative number of suspected cases is 68 and suspected death is 5 The Emergency Operations Center (EOC) wishes the general public to know the Government of Sierra Leone through the Resident Minister Eastern Region, Mr. Maya Kaikai has acquired a five acre land outside the township of Kenema and few miles from Hanga where the new Ebola treatment center will be located. The EOC is also looking at relocating the treatment center currently being constructed at the Laka community for Western Area to Kerry town. This decision by the EOC to move the treatment centers is as a result of Presidential Task force instructions that all Ebola treatment centers be relocated to communities away from where people dwell or reside, this will also include new treatment centers to be constructed in other districts across the country.
