THE CHANGERS MANIFESTO I have titled this article in synonymity with the celebrated work of the great political and economic Philosopher Karl Marx, even though the content of this article is totally against the Marxian theory. It is a well known fact today, that one-third of the worlds population live under this political theory of Karl Marx titled The Communist Manifesto unfortunately, these are the poorest of the countries of the world just as Karl Marx was. The central thesis of Marxs theory is that there exists a Master-Servant relationship in the economy, the Masters as the Capitalists and the Servant as the exploited Peasant. Marx further stressed that the growing army of the Peasant will one day rise to destroy the Capitalist structure. This has somehow happened in some countries of the world, the Arab league in particular leaving economic ripples effect of doom behind. As a student of economics, I used to have great admiration for this theory, until I studied Rostows Stages of Economic Growth as postulated by W.W. Rostow. We can retitle Rostows theory as Non-Communist Manifesto. The aim of this my Anti-thesis to the Thesis of Marx is because such reality is about to surface in the Nigerian political sphere under the nomenclature, WE WANT CHANGE. This perceived changed is believed to result from a political revolution in which the electorate is been cajored to believe that a Messiah as come to deliver them from the shackles of economic hardship, corruption, and recently terrorism. Ironically things dont ever work that way in the economic and political sense. Rostows five stages to growth are: The traditional society, The pre-condition to take-off, The take-off,The drive to Maturity and The stage of high mass consumptions. From my calculations Nigerian is just at the Take-off stage. Economic analysis has it that it takes about sixty years to leave this take off stage to the matured stage(developed stage) if systematic changes is allowed to occur in the economic system. Such systematic changes is not informed by political or electoral revolutions, in contrast to Marxian tradition, but can only come through technological revolution which is a result of EDUCATION. This is simply my argument for the support of the current government in Nigeria. Whether this is believed or not, the root cause of terrorism in Nigeria is Inadequate Education hiding under the folds of Religionism. This what the current administration in Nigeria has the most merit. No Head of State in Nigeria has furthered the course of educational progress like the one we have now. Goodluck Jonathan has set our Nation on the path to greatness, that he himself will never take credit for. Years to come will verify this economic prophesy. The Almajiri schools, the Establishment of Federal universities across the 36 states is the fruit that the Nation will reap in the near future. Corruption does exist now, but I state today, and I wish to be quoted anywhere, No government can evict corruption Spontaneously as we are meant to believe, it eradications come through Value adjustment processes via the wings of education. So to fight corruption is to uphold educational value, to lead development is to respects educational dictates and to be a good ruler is to understand these dynamics. Electoral revolution will take us back to 1960. Nigerians becareful!
