THE CHORAL SINGER’S ART: THE GLORY OF VENICE FEATURING VIVALDI’S “OTHER” GLORIA NEWTON, MASS. – The Eliot Church of Newton announces its final concert of the 2013-2014 season with a performance of music by Venetian composers. The concert takes place Friday, May 9, 2014, at 8 pm in the sanctuary of Eliot Church, 474 Centre Street, Newton. Tickets are available at the door. General admission: $15; Students/Seniors: $10. A reception follows the concert. Music director CHARLES RAINES leads the ELIOT SINGERS, the ELIOT CHURCH CHOIR and baroque chamber orchestra, in works by Giovanni Gabrieli, Monteverdi, Lotti, Cavalli, Albinoni and Galuppi. Of particular interest will be a rarely heard performance of Vivaldi’s “other” GLORIA in D major, RV 588 for choir, soloists and orchestra.
