THE COLD The jolly cold creeps through my boots My clothes, my coat, my hair, my cap The cold will creep in anywhere That there may be a gap And once inside my clothing The cold’s job is still not done It goes right through my skin and flesh And chills me to the bone And yet I do not hate the cold It’s mostly gone by morn’ I do not leave my bed all night So I manage to stay warm As long as there’s an end to cold The cold I secretly desire ‘Cause I can wear my nice warm clothes And sit by a nice warm fire The cold it is a teaser, A dare, a taunting thing When it is beat by clothes and heat I do feel like a king by Neil J Milliner.
