THE CONCERT : She was singing lullaby to her 3 months old baby - TopicsExpress

THE CONCERT : She was singing lullaby to her 3 months old baby when he came back home, late at night. They exchanged smiles. However, his smile failed to envelop the pain that he went through all day. Yet another day in search of a new job, but without any success. She understood, and by slight gesture of her eyes, assured him that it was okay. He kept his sling bag on the table, and threw himself on the sofa. He looked older than his age. Withered eyes, a stubble face, and a lean body. The smile had faded by now, and his face depicted of agony and helplessness. With the baby still in her lap, She saw him. He was massaging his forehead, eyes closed. Theirs was a love marriage, two years old, to which their respective parents had not yet approved of. Totally cut off from the family, they decided to shift to a new city for a new beginning, a new life. He had an MBA, and soon landed with a pretty good job. They had brought a new apartment on a bank loan. Everything was perfect until a day, he lost his job due to the growing recession. We need guys who are experienced. And you dont have much experience in your pocket, they said, while handing him his last salary cheque. The recession had eaten up the corporate world. Newbies like him, lost their jobs without any prior notice. The clock ticked 12 and he was still lost in his thoughts. She came to him and planted a kiss on his forehead. He opened his eyes to find his beautiful wife, with a warm smile on her face, holding a chocolate pastry in her hand that had a small candle lit up over it. HAPPY BIRTHDAY!, she gleamed, and he remembered that it was his birthday. He grinned, blew off the candle, and fed her the first bite. She took the remaining part and teasingly stuffed it into his mouth and they both laughed. It was a moment to savour, for both of them. It had been ages since they had spent moments as blissful as these. It was magical. For a moment, everything came to a halt and it was just the two of them, all alone, hand in hand. He forgot all the problems he was facing. His mind and heart found peace being with her. He looked in her eyes. The kohl lined eyes looked magnificent in the faint light that fell on her face. And as she smiled, dimples dig into her cheeks, and that made him fall in love with her, all over again. It reminded him of his college days, when they had newly got into relationship. He was a guitarist for his college band those days. And he remembered singing and playing it for her everyday. It used to be a private music concert for her, her favorite part of the day. They would snug into the activity room, and he would sing a song for her. She used to listen to it with a blush on her face, falling for the most romantic guy ever yet again, every single day. Something crossed his mind, and he got up. He rushed into the storeroom leaving her confused. She had no idea what he was upto. Seconds later, he came back with the dust laden guitar in his hand. Sitting down on the sofa, he dusted off the guitar and placed its arch on his knees. The old glow was back on his face and she was smiling with a pink tinge on her cheeks. He plucked the strings of the guitar, and of her heart as well, as she braced herself for the best concert of her life. Old days were back, indeed. #Vinit
