THE CORE TRUTH OF CHRISTMAS. “This is how God showed His love among us:He sent His one and only Son into the world that we might live through Him”(1 John 4:9) ‘The most astonishing truth about Christmas is that God loves us.God is love and He loves us with a love that gives only the best and most valuable,as with Christmas when He gave us His Son.He also loves us with a love that forgives and cares. Since God so loved us,we also ought to love one another,says the apostle John(see 1 John 4:11).Love must triumph in our everyday lives:in our marriages,in our home lives,and in all our relationships—in word and deed. Christ grew up to become a Man of sorrow at Golgotha and in Gethsemane.Therefore we, as His followers,also do not remain infants in faith or restricted by a faith that never goes beyond the stable where our Savior was born.We must grow to spiritual maturity. Like the shepherds,we must also be loving witnesses and praise God for everything we have heard and seen.We must proclaim the wonder of His love:redemption,grace,and peace.’
