THE CURRENT NATIONAL CONFAB: This GEJ confab initiative may just be to maitain the status quo afterall. Methinks an exersice of this nature should not be hijacked by class bigotry. It should be an operant intellectual exercise to start with. The government appointees, politicians, royal fathers, the clergy, all represent institutionalisea class of people benefitting from the system as it is. They are not likely to want to rock the boat of the Nigerian state that has made them what they are. An exercise of this nature, to justify its raison detre, should seek the mind of the voiceless majority by engaging in vigorous intellectual discuss on social order and political affinities. Discussants ought to have been drawn among the common people with sound intellectual bent and social patriotic balance. As it is now constituted, the angst of most Nigerians may not be assuaged. Yet, the exercise is meant to correct social imbalance, undue class/ethnic dominance, and remove political intolerance, all of which are the harbingers of our present woes. We may have planned to fail!
