THE Comb So Barbara, and others have asked me what the story - TopicsExpress

THE Comb So Barbara, and others have asked me what the story behind THE Comb is..... So here it is............ Kelvin and I have been together for 12 years. We met because of the working dogs we owned, and then I later purchased a Giant Schnauzer from him. He taught me the majority of how to show groom a Giant. He had this particular comb that he had for many years. I really liked it and tried to find one like it, but the company had sold and was not allowed to make them again for X amount of years. This of course I had learned because I hunted down the man who was responsible for it. (Sam Kohl) He told me to look again in a few years because he would be making them again. In the meantime I spent hundreds of dollars looking for a comb that was comparable to this one. None of them held their tines in a straight line and would bend easily. THE comb was many years old and never had a single tine bend. It was the Go to comb shall we say. I had special permission to use THE Comb during numerous grooming competitions, but was always warned If you dont come home with it, dont bother coming home. (he now tells me he was joking) Shannon, a friend and co-worker came to see me in the ER the night of the fire. She reminded me of THE comb. She left and Kelvin came into my ER room after he recieved treatment and was sitting next to me while we awaited my discharge papers. I put my hand on his shoulder and said, Im going to say something to you, but you have to keep it together.. I simply said THE comb. His eyes closed and his head dropped. It appeared the comb that had been around for over 2 decades and groomed dozens of champions, and hundreds of pets was gone for good. I knew I had to try and find it. The biggest problem was there was a huge pile of siding and crushed metal and burnt everything in the space that was once our grooming room. I only spent 30 minutes looking on the second day before I left it to the man upstairs. I said Lord, I know nothing worth having ever comes easy, but Ive been looking awful hard for this comb, and I sure could use a little help. Within 5 minutes I looked about 4 feet from where I was squated and digging and saw the very end of it sticking up. I know it seems like such a little thing, and it really is. But if you know me at all, I like a good challenge and I was hoping to make him happy. I have ordered what I believe is the exact same comb, as Sam is back in business, but I wont know for sure until I get it in my hand this week. Perhaps its time to retire THE Comb to a shadow box as a reminder of the past and the power of prayer.
