THE DAILY CUP - 7/5/2014 The Neighbor Who is my neighbor? Jesus answers that question by telling the story of the Good Samaritan. Now remember, in Jesus day, the Samaritan is the bad guy. He is despised as a half-breed dog by devout Jews, but as the story unfolds, its really the bad guy that is the hero! Its the supposed good guys, the religious guys, that are the real jerks. And then look how Jesus twists the story by asking, Which man proved to be the neighbor to the man who fell among thieves? The first question, Who is my neighbor? had relegated the neighbor to a mere object, Jesus turned the object into the subject where the bad guy becomes the hero! Wow! Thats our Jesus! I wonder, can we see people like Jesus saw them? Lets try it today!
