THE DARKER SIDE OF DOWNTOWN LAS VEGAS. The gap between Tony - TopicsExpress

THE DARKER SIDE OF DOWNTOWN LAS VEGAS. The gap between Tony Hsieh’s vision of a revitalized DLV where people can live, work and play, and the gritty reality of today’s DLV is still huge and it’s going to take more than the addition of a local grocery store to close that gap. With frequent reports of crimes such as the stabbing of two tourists at the Fremont Experience, a proposed fence around Fremont East on First Fridays to keep out gangs and underage drinking, and bars where tourists get drugged and robbed – a not uncommon experience (and Metro cops can’t be bothered to investigate), DLV is a long way from Hsieh’s vision. Working and playing – maybe. But living? Not for people like me.
