THE DEATH OF OMBACI COLLEGE Today, St. Josephs Ombaci College, - TopicsExpress

THE DEATH OF OMBACI COLLEGE Today, St. Josephs Ombaci College, Ombaci stooped to new lows in its efforts to protect the Headteacher from scrutiny in regards to his role in the strikes that have bedeviled Ombaci. Me, and Ezama Joel, representatives of the District and PTA to the BOG respectively, were ejected from a meeting this morning as the BOG sits to discuss the strikes in the school. By a vote of 8-3, the BOG claimed we are a danger to the school and that we are sympathetic to the students and reveal secrets of their discussions to the public. The motion was moved by the Vice Chairperson of the BOG, Fr. Phillip Zema who appeared to have mobilised the Foundation Body Members, the Sub County representative and the OBs representative. Both of us have maintained that the problems of Ombaci are about bad management practices of the headteahcer and the employment of local politics in the school which has led to divisions, intrigue and sectarianism. The poor leadership has been reflected in the unnecessarily barbaric and inhuman treatment of the students and selectee staff. The spirit of unity is gone. Leaders have basically turned the school into a business center. Some BOG members have turned out as contractors in the school. This has created a bid and powerful clique at the school who will strive to defend the headteahcer who is clearly mismanaging Ombaci. To them students don’t matter. They charge charges that hurt the students and parents and go ahead to coerce the students on top. Today we have a heartless headteacher and a BOG who will stop who have no shame in ruining Ombaci in their pursuit of personal glory. The pity in all this is that the students are the culprits- their future is being destroyed by the greed of few individuals. Well the students were wrong to destroy property, but from all indications, they reached the limit of engaging the leadership of the school that only knows coercion and harassment as appropriate methods of management. You can make young people understand by counseling and show of parental care and love for them, not always draconian methods. Unfortunately, when a strike happens, many people don’t listen or ignore concerns of the students. We need divine intervention at Ombaci at this stage.
