THE DECLINE OF DAYCARE IN THE NETHERLANDS A report from the Childcare Association in the FD today paints a stark picture of the daycare industry in the Netherlands. Following sweeping cuts to the childcare allowance in recent years the report states that there are now 100,000 less children in daycare since 2011. Until now the association believes that daycares have been subsidising the care they offer with their own funds in order to survive. Despite this, last year 98 daycares were declared bankrupt. More worryingly the report claims that virtually no institution currently meets the minimum requirements of solvency and liquidity.
