THE DEUCE OF SPADES 2014 AWARD TOUR: TALES FROM THE ROAD - Day 94 - Oh dont be such an ass! Wait... On second thoughts, be as much of an ass as you want :) !! Its hot, its dusty, and its filled with asses. And I couldnt be happier about it if I tried!! I am FINALLY visiting OATMAN, which has been on my TO DO list since driving Route 66 in 2011 during my U.S. National tour. Today I hitched a ride with my fan/friend Ron, because Oatman is in the middle of nowhere and the Deuce right front tire is less than reliable, since the BIG CREW incident in Pleasanton, CA, last August. You dont want to be left stranded, alone, in the middle of the Arizona desert in the summer, thats for sure. There isnt much to see or do in Oatman but I am on cloud nine. The old shacks, the mine, the famous hotel and the most awesome dollar-bills-covered restaurant (see my next post) but most of all... THE DONKEYS. Oh my God, I have never seen anything as adorable as a baby donkey. My heart was melting at first sight. The wild burros are anything but, roam the street free, hang out with the tourists as if they were one of us and will follow you around (and even rough you up a little) if you buy a bag of treats for them :P. be prepared to be mauled, those little furry guys take their treats VERY seriously. Some of the overweight ladies who were stingy in dispensing them, found out the HARD way that donkeys can be real asses (sorry, I couldnt help it LOLOL). Seemed the donkeys loved biting their asses. (wait... I am confused now... Which asses are we referring to now??) no, the ladies asses, not the asses asses, although they also liked biting those LOL. Well any way, large ladies seemed to attract the donkeys wrath for some reason (more to bite? LOL). Luckily, I had worked out that morning (no, not really ... sigh...) and my fannies were graciously spared :).
