THE DIARY OF PINK PEARL CONTINUES: IM WIDE AWAKE AND BORN AGAIN! PRINCESS BELLA WHITE ROSE BUD (Just a sampling of smiles and millet!) Copyrights by Jes Fuhrmann 2013 All rights reserved “This is Rose Bud.” she introduces, carefully gathering the small, frightened, misty blue parrot out of the grey-lined cardboard box to allow her the freedom to explore her new home. I look down upon her quizitively, noting the oddly proportioned large, cream-colored beak of the pecked-upon baby bird. “You’re missing some feathers like me, I see…” I start, gently eying the frightened, little hybrid lovebird as she wanders freely about. “They were mean to me!” she mutters, running to the other side of the play area to investigate its offers. “Come here, Rose Bud.” Honey softly commands, scooping the little parrot in her warm, soft hands. “This is the aviary.” she begins, offering her assistance as the young bird grabs the little perch suspended from the wire mesh of the aviary wall. “I’m hungry!” Rose grumbles, quickly noting the long branches of thick, spray millet as she begins to freely relish in the delicacy. “Wow, cool!” she chants, rapidly clearing the small seeds from the dry branches of ecstasy. “Nobody to compete with for food?!” she blinks, quickly glancing about as Tanzania quietly looks up from her iconic position next to the central treat dish. “Nope. Not here.” Tanzania proudly beams, observing the tiny parrot as she fills her growling, hungry belly above. “Umph, raully?” the small starving bird responds, it’s abnormal, huge beak becoming full of the nutritious, protein rich, low fat treat. “Whoa, thapts, umph, rally cool.” she breaths, diving in to eat as much as possible. “Where are you from?” Buddy asks, shying closer to get a better look at the mysterious looking lovebird. “Umph…” Rose attempts, taking only small breaks from her attempts to break her fast. “I think Her vine…” she ponders. “Not sure, really. It was this place… there was a lot of people and dogs barking ever since I was a baby. It was scary. No trees or plants, like this place…” she mentions between bites, looking about at the lush, green foliage of the utopian-minded aviary. This is really quite nice.” she beams, watching as Buddy carefully hides beneath the camouflage of the hanging, healthy green plant above. “How long you staying?” Harvard chirps, flying into the aviary to a lower branch to relish in some spray millet himself. “Umphf… don’t know, really…” she declares, returning to her task at hand. “Don’t know where I’m supposed to live…” the young bird states glancing questionably about for the familiar nesting house. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Thank you for your support to help us save all parrots from neglect and abuse in captivity.
