THE DOCTRINE OF RECIPROCITY IN SCRIPTURE The concept of reciprocity is found throughout the New Testament in the Geek phrase (he agapa tou theou). This Greek phrase can be translated, the love of God or the love for God. The two prepositions, of and for, make all the difference in the world. When translated the love of God this phrase represents all the essential attributes of God that combine to make up His complete person and is the expression of His love to the believer through grace. When translated the love for God This phrase represents the believers reciprocation of Gods love-a-harmonious relationship with Him. The correct translation of the phrase is determine from the Greek grammar and context of the passage.
