THE DSS, THE FAKE BOKO HARAM CEASEFIRE AND THE ABSOLUTION OF MOMODU SHERRIF When the news broke last night that the Department of State Security had summoned security correspondents to an emergency press conference the air was agog with intense expectation as speculation began to taunt ones imagination. Had the Chibok girls been rescued? Had the identity of the current wave of female suicide bombers been traced to the Chibok girls Had the real Abubakar Shekau been captured or killed? Had the financial sponsors of Boko Haram been unmasked? Indeed many arrived filled with expectations that good news of the uncommon kind will be revealed. But at the end of the press conference, the bizarre nature it took leaves a sour taste in the mouth and speaks volumes of the politicisation of the DSS into an appendage of the Presidency akin to a Gestapo like apparatchik. Or what else does one call a press conference that went out on a limb to provide absolution for the Presidents latest ally and guarantor of North Eastern votes, Momodu Sherrif? That was the Recurrent refrain of the DSS spokeswoman Marilyn Ogar, amidst the presentation of contradictory evidence. 1. The persons paraded were accomplices of the fake self-styled hostage negotiator Stephen Davis This is the first flaw that set alarm bells ringing. Is the DSS not aware that Stephen Davis was contacted by the Presidency to see if he could mirror his success with Niger Delta militants once confronted with Boko Haram. And isnt it a case of embellishment to now deny the man because he refused to dance to their zombie tune? 2. They are fraudsters who collected millions of dollars from the Federal Government under the guise of being boko haram commanders. Any fool could have seen the falsehood in the purported Boko Haram ceasefire unilaterally declared by the Government. Who authorised the expenditure of public funs in such an obvious scam? That is the real criminal who is counted amongst the sacred cows and has to be hidden from the prying eyes of the press. And it reeks of share stupidity to pay a group whose authenticity has not been verified for a ceasefire that is yet to be instituted. Indeed the stupidity of the Government of Goodluck Jonathan knows no limits in this regards lest it was a deliberate ploy to build the Presidential reelection warchest using clandestine means. 3. Former Governor Amodu Sherrif has no links with Boko Haram and it is the aide of Governor Shettima that was behind the fake boko haram ceasefire. This is indeed April fools day in December which sounds comical like a slapstick comedy in a dilapidated amphitheatre. So after Momodu Sherrif and President Idris Derby of Chad dragged Goodluck to a signing ceremony the whole ended up being a charade and Momodu Sherrif was looking on like an innocent bystander unaware of the kangaroo court of affairs? Indeed if the Government was serious of meeting Boko Haram stalwarts to negotiate a ceasefire the go to men in Nigeria remain Alhaji Datti and Shehu Sani. Why negotiate with unknown principalities even after the lessons of the amnesty committee who also paid out billions to fake Boko Haram members to denounce violence. One can only come to one conclusion. It is time to launder the image of the Presidents close ally, dispel the Steven Davis allegations and sweep under the carpet the fake ceasefire that conspicuously aided the advance of Boko Haram. The DSS is no more a serious security outfit preferring to act as a washing machine for the Presidency so as to launder their battered image. The whole charade was a waste of time and charging the fiends to court would have been more appropriate than parading suspects to stroke their deflated ego. Instead of combing every bush and turning over ever stone for the Chibok Girls they are indulging in the absolution of Momodu Sherrif. Instead of combing every nook and cranny for the Suicide bombing terror cell operating in Kano they are wasting our time with old wives tales. Shame on the DSS. They are a disgrace to what a security and Intelligence outfit is supposed to be. Disgracing, our nation by failing to do the needful
