THE ENEMY WILL NOT JUST GIVE IN “Then He spoke a parable to them, that men always ought to pray and not lose heart, saying: “There was in a certain city a judge who did not fear God nor regard man.”Now there was a widow in that city; and she came to him, saying, ‘Get justice for me from my adversary.’”And he would not for a while...” (Luke 18:1-4) The above parable was told by Jesus to His disciples. Jesus talks of the judge as one who neither feared God nor regarded man. For this reason the Lord Jesus calls him an unrighteous judge. It won’t be farfetched to say that he lacked the virtues of love and mercy. He was the kind who wouldn’t be swayed by tears; sad face and any kind of emotional appeals. The case before him concerned a widow. Widowhood is symbolic of destitution, defenselessness and oppression. Isaiah 1:17 reads: “Learn to do good; seek justice, rebuke the oppressor; defend the fatherless, plead for the widow.” But such an exhortation wouldn’t win the heart of this judge because Jesus had earlier described him as unrighteous. He was the kind who wouldn’t consider the need to heed to the cause of the widow. He was most likely legalistic, ruthless, disrespectful, and unkind and would judge people by strictly adhering to the letter of the Law. The widow wouldn’t have the capacity to pull the strings that could make the verdict of the judge favorable to her cause. At this point she was dealing with two adversaries; the one with whom she had the case and the unrighteous judge who lacked mercy to make righteous pronouncements to ease her burdens. The devil won’t just give in to your wish for deliverance. He won’t let you have the free course to have the things you so desire. He will raise barriers; set up blockades and prolong the battle to weary you. He does so because he rejoices in your destitution. He’s happy when he sees your business family and everything of yours go through difficult times. Unless you are willing to pray and exert spiritual pressure on him, he won’t budge. Prayer Point Command every evil and satanic assignment against your life and destiny to be revoked by the power of the blood and in the name of Jesus.
