THE ERA OF EPHPHATHA Mark 7:34 “ And looking up to heaven, he sighed, and saith unto him, Ephphatha that is, Be opened. Miracles innumerable were wrought by Jesus Christ while He was on earth; saving men from sin, healing the sick, restoring sight to the blind, opening the ears of the deaf, Oh! It’s an endless list of signs and wonders. All the miracles had certain principles they were bound by. One of which was/is the use of the Word. At certain times He would use words of Command, at other times, words confirming the Words of Men, words of instruction, rebuke and so on. All His words were enveloped in faith. In the verse above He used a word in healing a man who was deaf and dumb. A peculiar miracle, one would say. Moreover the peculiarity of this miracle was not in the healing. It was in the word used. Ephphatha: One of the sighs of Jesus, a rare word, and so rare that it was uttered just once and written just once in the Bible. A word of Command: “Ephphatha that is, Be opened.” When mingled with faith in the name of Jesus, Ephphatha is a word that’ll command whatever has the virtue of opening and closing (Doors/Gates). Like in our text, it commanded the opening of the ear and mouth gates. Vs 35 “And straightway his ears were opened, and the string of his tongue was loosed, and he spoke plain.” The word is now redefined. It goes from being a command to open, to being an era of opening; The Era of Ephphatha. A season of the opening of infinite doors and gates. The time when the now rusty and long closed doors shall be opened. We are to utter this word in this season with faith in the name of Jesus in order to command the doors and gates. In conventional English taught schools, students are taught the use of words and their applications in English grammar. Likewise, the Holy Bible teaches us how to apply Ephphatha: USE OF THE WORD SALVATION/SANCTIFICATION: Isaiah 48:8 “Drop down, ye heavens, from above and let the skies pour down righteousness; let the earth open and let them bring forth Salvation and let righteousness spring up together; I the Lord have created it.” Acts 16:14 “ And a certain woman named Lydia, a seller of purple, of the city of Thyatira, which worshiped God, heard us: whose heart the Lord opened, that she attended unto the things which were spoken of Paul.” Psalm 118:19 “ Open to me the gates of righteousness: I will go into them, and I will praise the Lord. Job 36:10 “He openeth also their ear to discipline, and commandeth that they return from iniquity.” RESURRECTION OF THE LIVING BUT DEAD IN SIN: Ezekiel 37:12 “Therefore prophesy and say unto them, Thus saith the Lord God; Behold, O my people, I will open your graves, and cause you to come up out of your graves, and bring you into the land of Isreal. GERMINATION OF THE DORMANT/ SPRING IN THE DESERT: Ezekiel 29:21 “In that day will I cause the horn of the house of Israel to bud forth, and I will give thee the opening of the mouth in the midst of them; and they shall know that I am the Lord.” Isaiah 41:18 “I will open rivers in High places and fountains in the midst of the valleys: I will make the wilderness a pool of water, and the dry land springs of water” ENHAKKORE: Genesis 21:19 “And God opened her eyes and she saw a well of water; and she went, and filled the bottle with water, and gave the lad drink” Psalms 106:17 “He opened the rock and the waters gushed out; they ran in dry places like a river.” EPHPHATHA FOR EPHRATAH (OPENING FOR FRUITFULNESS): Genesis 30:22 “And God remembered Rachel, and God hearkened to her, and opened her womb” Leviticus 26:4 “Then I will give you rain in due season, and the land shall yield her increase, and the trees of the field shall yield their fruit.” EPHPHATHA FOR UNDERSTANDING: Luke 24:45 “Then opened He their understanding, that they might understand the scriptures.” EPHPHATHA FOR ABUNDANCE: Deuteronomy 28:12 “The Lord shall open unto thee his good treasure, the heaven to give the rain unto the land in his season, and to bless all the work of thine hand; and thou shalt lend unto many nations, and shalt not borrow.” Malachi 3:10 “ Bring ye all the tithes into the storehouse, that there may be meat in mine house, and prove me now herewith, saith the Lord of Hosts, if I will not open you the windows of heaven, and pour you out a blessing, that there shall not be room enough to receive it” EPHPHATHA FOR THE GOSPEL: Isaiah 60:11 “ Therefore thy gates shall be open continually; they shall not be shut day or night; that men may bring unto thee the forces of the Gentiles, and that their kings may be brought.” I Corinthians 16:9 “For a great door is opened unto me, and there are many adversaries” EPHPHATHA O’ GATES & DOORS: Acts 16:26 “And suddenly there was a great earthquake, so that the foundations of the prison were shaken: and immediately all the doors were opened, and every one’s bands were loosed.” Acts 12:10 “ When they were past the first and second ward, they came unto the iron gate that leadeth unto the city; which opened unto to them of his own accord: and they went out…” Matthew 7:7 “…knock, and it shall be opened unto you.” EPHPHATHA FOR REVELATIONS: Ezekiel 1:1 “… the heavens were opened, and i saw visions of God” EPHPHATHA FOR MAZZAROTH (OPENING FOR THE RAIN OF REVIVAL): Hosea 6:3 “Then shall we know, if we follow on to know the Lord: his going forth is prepared as the morning; and he shall come unto us as the rain, as the latter and former rain unto the earth” Deuteronomy 11:14 “That I will give you the rain of your land in his due season, the first rain and the latter rain, that thou mayest gather in thy corn, and thy wine, and thine oil.” It’s the ERA OF EPHPHATHA. According to the time of life, it’s the season of opening; BE OPENED!!!
