THE FAILED EAZ DEBATE SHOULD HAVE BEEN FOR ALL CANDIDATES DR - TopicsExpress

THE FAILED EAZ DEBATE SHOULD HAVE BEEN FOR ALL CANDIDATES DR Sketchley Sacika says the failed debate organised by the Economics Association of Zambia should have been for all aspiring presidential candidates, and not just four. On Tuesday night, confusion marred the debate, which was scheduled to feature PF’s Edgar Lungu, Hakainde Hichilema of the UPND, FDD leader Edith Nawakwi and MMD president Nevers Mumba. This happened after a ZNBC television crew that was supposed to record the event pulled out following instructions from their superiors to leave the venue, Taj Pamodzi Hotel in Lusaka. The move angered UPND members, who also complained about Lungu’s absence, forcing Hichilema to boycott the event. However, Nawakwi, who had turned up for the debate, insisted on addressing the people. But in an interview yesterday, Dr Sacika said there was no justification for the EAZ to have restricted the invitation to only four presidential candidates.
