THE FINEST HOUR OF THE TWO KODAVA GENERALS ON FILM NOW This short film released recently documents the role played by two Kodava Generals in the liberation of Ladakh in 1948. The Kodava Generals - Lt Gen K M Cariappa, OBE as Western Army Commander, overall in charge of J&K Operations and Maj Gen K S Thimayya, DSO as GOC, 19 Infantry Division in charge of Kashmiir Valley and Ladakh Operations played a pivotal role in liberating part of J&K, before they were ordered to cease fire by Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru, which on hindsight was a suicidal decision.
