THE FIRST MENTION OF THE WORD LOVE IN THE BIBLE! And he said, - TopicsExpress

THE FIRST MENTION OF THE WORD LOVE IN THE BIBLE! And he said, Take now thy son, thine only son Isaac, whom thou LOVEST, and get thee into the land of Moriah; and offer him there for a burnt offering upon one of the mountains which I will tell thee of., Gen 22:2. Interesting that the first mention of LOVE in scripture is not MOTHERLY LOVE but FATHERLY LOVE! GOD instructed ABRAHAM to offer HIS ONLY SON, ISAAC, as a HUMAN SACRIFICE! This is obviously a parallel and symbolism to our Heavenly Father offering up His only begotten Son, Jesus! THIS STORY IS TOO MAGNIFICENT TO TELL ALL IN ONE PAGE :) I want to highlight a few truths from all of the IRONY! IRONY occurs when there is an opposing change or drastic twist in a Dramatic Plot where the Characters are completely unaware! The Irony of God asking Abraham to offer his son Isaac, was God previously promised Isaac would be the Heir of the Promise. This episode of events REVEAL the FAITH and TRUST of ABRAHAM, and the OBEDIENCE and HUMILITY of ISAAC. NOWHERE to be found on the record is ISAAC resisting ARREST! Isaac was not a young lad. Ironically, he was near the age of Jesus, when the Lord laid down His life in obedience of His Father! Isaac had no clue! And Isaac spake unto Abraham his father, and said, ......Behold the fire and the wood: but where is the lamb for a burnt offering?, Gen 22:7. And Abraham said, My son, God will provide..., Gen 22:8. NOWHERE to be found on the record is ABRAHAM questioning GOD! He proved his faith by telling his servants, ....Abide ye here with the ass; and I and the lad will go yonder and worship, and come again to you., Gen 22:5. Friends, EVEN WHEN YOU DONT SEE A WAY OUT OF A SITUATION, OBEY GOD, AND BELIEVE THAT HE PROVIDE YOU A WAY OUT! Abraham didnt know how God would remedy the situation but he trusted Him all the way from the handle of the knife to the tip of his sons throat, until the Angel said STAY THY HAND, Gen 22:10-12. The FIRST mention of LOVE involves Abrahams love for his son Isaac. Friends, know that God will require from US that which WE LOVE MOST! The Bad News? God is a Jealous God, Ex 20:5, 34:14, Deut 4:24. The Good News? WHATEVER WE GIVE TO GOD, GOD WILL GIVE BACK TO US! Give HIM your children that you LOVE, and the LORD will give them back to YOU; and they will be in BETTER condition than when you gave them up to HIM! God requires NO MORE from US than HE is Willing to DO Himself! For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life, John 3:16. Be Blessed!
