Veronica: Oh, Jesus is referring to the establishment of the Order of Our Lady of the Roses - the Carmel of Our Lady of the Roses. Vigil of December 6, 1974 Veronica: Our Lady refers to the establishment of an Order. Our Lady: This Order will be founded on basic tradition. This Order will gather those of true spirit. This Order will be composed of both men and women, and a cloistered convent. Vigil of November 20, 1974 Jesus: You are fast approaching the establishment of the monastery. Do not grow impatient, My child. It will all come to pass in the will of the Eternal Father. Vigil of May 28, 1975 Our Lady: In time you will understand My direction for the building of the Convent and the Basilica. Vigil of December 24 , 1974 [A ‘Carmel’ is the Carmelite Order. Carmel means garden. Our Lady refers to Her Shrine Sacred Grounds as Her Garden of Roses.] OUR LADYS SCAPULAR PROMISE In 1251, St. Simon Stock, a holy Carmelite priest and Prior of the Order, who had devoted his whole life to the loving service of the Queen of Heaven, implored her for some sign of her special protection. She appeared to him, all radiant and loving, and gave him the Scapular. She then made him a promise far beyond what he sought. She said: This shall be for you and for all Carmelites a special favor - that whosoever dies wearing this, shall never suffer eternal fire. This promise was extended by the Church to all who wear the Brown Scapular. Feast of Our Lady of Mount Carmel - July 16 History of the Feast from Little Pictorial Lives of the Saints: According to the most ancient Carmelite chronicles, the Order has its origins with the disciples of the prophets Elias [Elijah] and Eliseus. They lived in caves on Mount Carmel [now near Haifa Israel]. They honored the Queen of Heaven as the Virgin who is to give birth to the Savior. When the reality replaced the symbol, the pious ascetics of Carmel were converted to the Christian Faith. In the 12th century, many pilgrims from Europe who had followed the Crusaders came to join the solitaries. A rule was established and the Order began to spread to Europe. Amid the many persecutions raised against the Order of Mount Carmel, newly arrived in Europe, Saint Simon Stock, General of the Order, turned with filial confidence to the Blessed Mother of God. As he knelt in prayer on July 16, 1251, in the White Friars’ convent at Cambridge, She appeared before him and presented him with the well-known Brown Scapular, a loose sleeveless garment destined for the Order of Carmel, reaching from the shoulders to the knees. It was given as an assurance, for all who died wearing it, of Her heavenly protection from eternal death. An extraordinary promise indeed, but one requiring a life of prayer and sacrifice. At Lourdes in 1858, the Virgin chose to make Her last apparition on July 16th, feast of Our Lady of Mount Carmel, the day the Church commemorates Her apparition to Saint Simon Stock. And at Fatima on October 13, 1917, it is as Our Lady of Mount Carmel that Mary appeared when She said farewell to the three children. Throughout the ages, the Queen of Carmel has always kept a faithful watch over the destinies of Her cherished children on earth. PRAYER to Our Lady of Mount Carmel Oh, most beautiful flower of Mt. Carmel, fruitful vine, splendor of Heaven. Blessed Mother of the Son of God, Immaculate Virgin, assist me in my necessity, Oh Star of the Sea, help me and show me here you are my Mother. Oh Holy Mary, Mother of God queen of Heaven and Earth, I humbly beseech you from the bottom of my heart to succor me in my necessity. There are none that can withstand your power. Oh Mary, conceived without sin, pray for us who have recourse to thee. Holy Mary, I place this prayer in your hands. Amen. AVE MARIS STELLA HAIL, O Star of the ocean, Gods own Mother blest, ever sinless Virgin, gate of heavnly rest. Taking that sweet Ave, which from Gabriel came, peace confirm within us, changing Eves name. Break the sinners fetters, make our blindness day, Chase all evils from us, for all blessings pray. Show thyself a Mother, may the Word divine born for us thine Infant hear our prayers through thine. Virgin all excelling, mildest of the mild, free from guilt preserve us meek and undefiled. Keep our life all spotless, make our way secure till we find in Jesus, joy for evermore. Praise to God the Father, honor to the Son, in the Holy Spirit, be the glory one. Amen.
