THE FUTURE IS SCREWED. Professionalism is dead. The responses Ive been getting for the position at my company are horrifying. These so-called Millennials are unprofessional imbeciles. Of the 11 emails I received today for this entry-level position, only one followed the instructions in my post and included an actual resume. No cover letters, no punctuation, spelling errors... here is one response I received. This is EXACTLY how his email was written: Hi may name is A*** M*******, i would like to apply for this position, im a hard worker and really fast learning any task, im a self motivated worker which help to do any job securelly and the right way plz contact me at (201) ***-**** Two spelling mistakes in one short paragraph. He shortened please to plz. He didnt capitalize I ever. He didnt even sign the email. In a casual correspondence this would be tolerable but this is damn job application! Every one of the 11 emails I received included spelling, grammar and punctuation errors. Look, I dont wear tie to work. I dont ask my employees to dress in any way other than comfortable within reason. I wear jeans most days. Im not a stickler for that kind of stuff and thats why I work for myself, but what the hell happened to being professional in a damn job application? Teach your kids to be whatever they want to be, but teach them how to communicate like reasonably intelligent person or they can join this asshole sitting on the sofa all day.
