THE GHANAIAN AND PATRIOTISM most of us are not truthful. We are growing fast to be hypocrites. A typical ghanaian seeks for a job, he gets it and all he does is looking for ways to cut comers. A pastor preaches against vices and you see him doing the opposite. He takes all the offerings home, buys the biggest cars and never help the poor in society. All the typical ghanaian does, when there is a disaster or an uproar, is take all the time in the world to talk talk and talk about it without professing and meaningful solution. Who pays the bribes? We pay bribes to get away with necessary punishment and we later sit somewhere and accused the same institutions we bribed. I hear that the passport suppose to be ready by a month in processing but some officials are able to detain the ready passports and ask for bribes before they are released. Who are those who pay those bribes? Why should an officer who has no right to collect those moneys do that with ease? Its the irresponsible and ignorant citizens who, out of anxiety pay those unlawful money. Do we have to pay for an electricity meter? Isnt it free? Do we pay cash fir bail at the police station? Do we beg for our right? Do we really know our rights as citizens? Is the NCCE working at all? How many of us have read even the first page of the constitution of Ghana? A typical Ghanaian, to me, is very hypocritical. - Dave.
