THE GHOST NAMES MENACE. IT TAKES A GOVERNMENT WITH THE DEVOLOPMENT - TopicsExpress

THE GHOST NAMES MENACE. IT TAKES A GOVERNMENT WITH THE DEVOLOPMENT OF THE NATION AT HEART TO FIGHT IT Though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil. I kept repeating these words this morning as I walked through the awudome cemetery this morning and read various GHOST NAMES written on graves. I got home and began thinking about GHOST NAMES on government payroll. Are all those names I saw at the awudome cemetery on the government of Ghana’s payroll??? Which banks hold the accounts of these ghosts??? What are their account numbers??? Do they get paid for sleeping in those graves all day??? What work do they do??? These are few of the many questions that run through my mind this morning as I returned from the Awudome cemetery where I saw many GHOST NAMES. GHOST NAMES basically refer to names of nonexistent people on government payroll who are paid on monthly basis. But can nonexistent people open bank accounts and and withdraw monies from it??? The answer is a big NO. This GHOST NAMES menace affects Ghana negatively and it takes a government that has the development of Ghana at heart to put in place effective and efficient measures to eliminate this. Parliament on June 15, 2014 was told that a staggering 2,531 suspected GHOST NAMES on government payroll for June, 2014 have been blocked for investigations. This was revealed by finance minister Hon. Seth Terkper when he was presenting his mid-year review of the budget statement and economic policy to the house. These GHOST NAMES revelation through the pilot implementation of the ELECTRONIC VOUCHER PAYMENT SYSTEM in the Greater Accra Region alone saved the country a whopping GHC400, 000000(four hundred million Ghana cedis). These monies that were supposed to go to some ghosts via the pockets of the living would have deprived the nation of some developmental projects and this goes to confirm my claim that it takes a government with the development of Ghana at heart to put in place effective and efficient measures to eliminate this menace. As I type these words, the education ministry has deleted over 6000 GHOST NAMES from its payroll. This followed an audit of teachers all over the country for redistribution. If the elimination of 2,531 GHOST NAMES saved the nation GHC400, 000000, then one can guess how much money the elimination of these 6000 GHOST NAMES from the educational sector alone has saved our nation. Chaaaarley, Ghanaian ghosts dey chill paaa ooo. I wonder what they use the money for in their graves. It’s obvious that it takes a government with the development of the nation at heart to put in place effective n efficient measures to eliminate this menace. It is crystal clear that government is doing everything humanly possible to stop feeding these GHOSTS with NAMES and we must all join in this war against GHOST NAMES if we really love Ghana and want to see it develop because the monies spent in feeding these GHOSTS with NAMES can be channeled into other developmental projects. Report your boss to the appropriate institution if you see him adopting GHOSTS with NAMES from the various cemeteries to feed. I will drop the curtains here. Catch you on the flipside, folks
