THE GOOD LIE (U.S. 2014)I saw this lovely movie yesterday. The trailer leads you to believe that its the typical Hollywood theme (Movie star actress portrays savior) but the prominence of Reese Witherspoon in the trailer is more a marketing thing than the truth of the movie. It is the refugees story not hers. It follows the children as they survive the violence of a war fought around them in the Sudan and the miles long trek through harsh desert conditions and even more violence to find safety at a refugee camp and finally being airlifted to the U.S. That journey has its own kind of struggles, adapting to a new place that seems alien in so many ways. But these young people have survived war and displacement so they thrive. Its sweet and uplifting and though it does have Hollywoods light touch it is full of soul and definitely a worth see!
