THE GOVERNMENTS OF JAMAICA IN THE LAST 15 YEARS HAVE LOST OR WASTED IN EXCESS OF US$10 BILLION IN POTENTIAL INFRASTRUCTURE FUNDING: In the last 15 years the Governments of Jamaica had received significant amount of funding for infrastructure development; the new Half Way Tree Transportation Centre, Bus Terminal, US$400 million the JLP wasted and stolen, Highway 2000 plus the current US$230 million NHT has year marked for housing development. We could have leverage these amounts of monies as an equity investment in an integrated urban and national sustainable development plan to the tune of some US$10 billion to include an estimated US$6 billion in DIASPORA BOND financing. Had they strongly embraced the principle of sustainable development we could have attained First World Status by 2020 and at the same time created the most livable and sustainable country in the Caribbean and Latin America. Maybe we will not achieve First World Status under the Vision 2030 Plan, but through the Diaspora Sustainable Development Initiative we can transform Kingston Metropolitan Area and St. Catherine, Jamaica’s urban centres the most sustainable and livable in Latin American and the Caribbean by 2030.
