THE GRAND BUDAPEST HOTEL: With an all-star cast headed by Ralph Fiennes, this film has style coming and going. Shot beautifully and alternating between square and wide screen, it is a farcical journey to another time, a Europe between the wars. The cast (mostly in cameos) are all first rate and include Jude Law, F. Murray Abraham, Willem Dafoe, Adrien Brody, Bill Murray, Tilda Swenton, Edward Norton, Jeff Goldblum, Tom Wilkinson, Owen Wilson and Harvey Keitel, And yet, the film is somewhat unsatisfying even though the gags are there and the scenery is borderline cartoonish, I came away thinking it could have been better. If Hollywood doesnt totally forget about this film, it may even get an Oscar nod of two next season (style again) but still, all in all, I felt it missed the mark and I was somewhat disappointed.
