THE GRAND ILLUSION In Isaiah 43:16-19 (NLT), we read: “I am the LORD, who opened a way through the waters, making a dry path through the sea. I called forth the mighty army of Egypt with all its chariots and horses. I drew them beneath the waves, and they drowned, their lives snuffed out like a smoldering candlewick. But forget all that—it is nothing compared to what I am going to do. For I am about to do something new. See, I have already begun! Do you not see it? I will make a pathway through the wilderness. I will create rivers in the dry wasteland.” Life’s about to get better! Imagine a life where God causes new things to spring forth everywhere you go. A life where God makes a way through difficulty; a life where God causes fresh water to flood your dry places. And if this is the kind of life you want to experience…you need to first break out of what we call the “grand illusion.” What’s the “grand illusion”? It’s the belief that it’s all been done; you have it all; a greater tomorrow is not possible, so why try. It’s when a person’s life is infected with the disease of average, passivity and the status quo. Too many Christians believe that there’s nothing more. But we want to challenge you to dream big dreams – dreams big enough to challenge your faith, dreams so big that it would take God to bring them to pass. So, set your eyes on something higher than the ground you’re walking on!
