THE GREATEST MYSTERY OF THE AMERICAN UNIVERSE. Why would Republicans prefer a leader like Putin over Obama? This does not make sense since Putin has all the power and total control over his country. On the other hand Republicans hate Obama because they believe that he is a Socialist dictator, king and emperor. During these two world leaders initial confrontation Republicans were praising Putin, convinced that what America needed was this macho Russian communist autocratic leader. They argued that he was gaining power and prestige on the international stage while their own president was failing to lead, thereby causing America international influence to wane. I wonder if the GOP would still like to trade leaders today since it is painfully obvious that they were completely wrong. It was not Putin but Obama who was playing chess and Putin who was playing checkers. For instance, Obama helped scuttle Russias warship deal with France. Russia is scrapping its South Stream gas pipeline because of its toxic relationship with the West. Ukraine is more firmly allied to the West. Finland is considering joining NATO. Russia has been dumped from the G7 and Putin himself was brutally snubbed by practically every other world leader at the G20 meeting in Brisbane that he went home early. Economic sanctions are wrecking havoc with Russias economy. Even its new BFF, China, took advantage of all these events to obtain better terms in negotiations over the long-planned Siberian gas pipeline. Putin is now increasingly isolated. Other Russian neighbors are eager to strengthen alliances with the West. His country now has a collapsing economy owing to the Obama led economic sanctions and falling gas prices. Russias overall problems are likely to get worse as the country is heading into a recession. Nevertheless as the rest of the world isolate and ravage Putin, he has never been more popular in his country. Unlike Republicans, patriotic citizens are rallying around him with their support. However if this were the case with Obama, Republicans will be calling for his impeachment. As a matter of fact, even though Americas economy is moving in the opposite direction of Russias, they are still calling for his impeachment. Since the GOP prefer the macho man persona over the strong dark silent type, they are lucky not to get the government they deserve.
