THE GREENWICH TIME WONT TELL YOU THIS. BECAUSE THEY GET A LOT OF ADVERTISING DOLLARS FROM FRANK CORVINO AND GREENWICH HOSPITAL...... Frank A. Corvino, Greenwich Hospital president/CEO and executive vice president, Yale New Haven Health Systems, and Fahad Ahmed, compliance and privacy Officer for Greenwich and Bridgeport Hospitals and director, compliance and privacy, Yale New Haven Health System at the 18th Annual Healthcare Compliance Institute in San Diego, CA. Sponsored by the Healthcare Compliance Association (HCCA), the four-day Institute will address the many new regulations resulting from healthcare reform, advancing technology, electronic health records and social media in the healthcare setting, among other issues. Corvino and Ahmed will speak about the potentially challenging relationship between the compliance officer, the executive team and the CEO. Maybe they should mention that..... Greenwich Hospital Employees Illegally Release Psychiatric And Medical Information Of Prominent Town Residents Greenwich Police Called To Greenwich Hospital Because Employees Were Mocking And Gossiping About Prominent Town Personalities And Politicians That Have Sought Medical Help From Hospital Affiliated Psychiatrists. Over the last 18 months Greenwich Hospital President and CEO Frank Corvino has repeatedly been made aware of how behavioral health patients from the Town of Greenwich are treated at the Greenwich Hospital Outpatient Clinic. These serious complaints were brought to Mr. Corvinos attention included reports of Greenwich Hospital Clinic employees mocking and publicly discussing Greenwich Hospital patients that have sought out mental health care in the Greenwich Hospital Outpatient Clinic headed by Dr. Stephen Jones. Further, there have been much more serious complaints of Greenwich Hospital Clinic employees improperly releasing patient information from the admitting area and reception area of the second floor outpatient clinic. Including information about Greenwich First Selectman Peter Teseis treatment at the hospital. Dr Jones staff have repeatedly been heard and observed discussing patients private and confidential information loudly on speaker phones or by unprofessionally shouting a patients confidential information over office partitions. Greenwich Hospital patients medical record numbers, dates of birth, social security numbers, employers, phone numbers and home addresses are routinely and illegally released in the Greenwich Hospital Clinic. Moreover, there seems to be a culture in Greenwich Hospital where the medical and mental health records of prominent Greenwich personalities and public officials are gossiped about in an unprofessional way. One disturbed patient in Greenwich Hospitals Behavioral Clinic is often refereed to by the clinic staff with name of a popular town politician who has sought mental health services at the hospital. Apparently the clinic staff see some resemblance to the mocked patients medical condition and that of the elected official that sought psychiatric services from a Greenwich Hospital Psychiatrist a while back. Christine C Beechner, who was a registered nurse that became Greenwich Hospitals Vice President of Patient And Guest Relations responded to such complaints with,Greenwich Hospital and its Outpatient Clinic staff are committed to providing quality safe care to all patients in a confidential and respectful manner. We will take this opportunity to reinforce this with our staff. Ms. Beechner added With regards to patient registration and patient waiting area physical safeguards are in place to create the necessary privacy environment in order to best limit incidental disclosure of our patients protected health information. When provided 14 pages and pages of notes documenting loud, boisterous and crude comments about all members of Greenwich society had been complied in a one hour period of staff joking around in the clinic, Ms. Beechner responded with that she had only observed staff speaking in soft tones, using headsets for phone conversations, and communicating minimally information for patient care. A member of of Patient And Guest Relations staff called the Greenwich Police Department in an effort to get the reporters notes on the the mocked patients medical conditions including that of an elected official that sought psychiatric services from a Greenwich Hospital, Even though the Greenwich Hospitals Patient And Guest Relations office had on two occasions been provided with copies of the notes documenting Greenwich Hospital staffs unbecoming behavior.. The two Greenwich Police officers responding to Hospital and told Ms. Beechners office that they could not legally confiscate the personal papers and notes of a reporter, and that the HIPAA, privacy and security lapses were the fault of Greenwich Hospital staff and that she should look into this potentially illegal activity. The Greenwich Police officers further explained that the reporter and his personal papers and notes should not be detained by Greenwich Hospital staff and security. The two police officers told the reporter that he was free to leave Greenwich Hospital with his personal papers and notes. Later, Ms. Beechneer responded in writing with, Our Compliance and Privacy Officer preforms rounds regularly on each unit to confirm that Greenwich Hospital employees are practicing appropriate HIPPA Privacy and Security behaviors. The information that you have provided will be communicated accordingly by our Compliance and Privacy officer to the staff in an effort to further reinforce the Hospitals privacy policies and practices. The Greenwich Hospital Compliance And Privacy Officer is Fahad Ahmed. Yet nothing was done and Greenwich Hospital CEO Frank Corvino and Fahad A. Ahmed banned the original patient whistle blower from the hospital in mid treatment for a Greenwich Hospital surgery that had complications. linkedin/pub/fahad-a-ahmed-chc-chps/44/147/279
