THE HEART OF A CHAMPION I just got done watching the NRHA - National Reining Horse Association Futurity. What an amazing night of competition! Big names and new names alike left all they had in the arena and when the dust settled, there were two co-champions - Jordan Larson, on a son of the illustrious parents Gunnatrashya and Wimpys Little Chic and Shawn Flarida Reiners and Shine and Spook, from equally amazing parents Smart Spook and Ebony Shine. All champions, be it human or horse I think have a special heart and the grit and determination to keep going through the challenges life throws their way. I was lucky enough to get to experience the extraordinary heart of Shine and Spook earlier this year when I was at Shawns. Some of you that have been following the page will remember a horse I nicknamed Chance... that horse was none other than Shine and Spook. And oh my what a big heart. When I met him, his big heart meant that he took everything in in sensory overdrive. Champions arent born without challenges. Some people, some horses are in our lives for a lifetime, some for a few months, some for a mere moment. But in the end, I believe that every champion is a meeting of hearts, never perfect, but wholly extraordinary. Those we get to help get a piece of our heart and those who help us get the same in return. I am honored and thankful to Shawn to have been able to feel what a special individual Shine and Spook is and for all the help and mentorship he gave me. A big congratulations to all of the big hearts in Oklahoma City tonight. ~Kalley
