THE HUNGER GAMES: CATCHING FIRE(PG-13)-Nov. 28 & 30. By:The Movie Guy. Are you ready to play a whole new kind of game? A year after surviving the games, champions Katniss Everdeen & Peeta Mellark, once again played by Oscar winner Jennifer Lawrence & Josh Hutcherson are back at home about to embark on a victory tour though the districts in commemoration of the fallen patriots of each district. President Snow played by an evil Donald Sutherland is still pissed about what happened in last year’s games and threatens to brutally squelch the growing resistance to the oppression of the Capital if Katniss and Peeta cannot sell their victory as a simple love story. Ultimately unconvinced, Snow restructures the 75th Hunger Games Quarter Quell designed by new game maker Plutarch Heavensbee played by Oscar winner Philip Seymour Hoffman to have a demoralizing effect on the restless population of the districts. Knowing that Snow wants them eliminated, Katniss & Peeta have no choice but to join forces with some of their adversaries in the game. They are once again helped by their mentors, Haymitch Abermathy & Effie Trinket played by Woody Harrelson & Elizabeth Banks. Lenny Kravitz returns as the sympathetic designer Cinna. Director Francis Lawrence & screenwriters Simon Beaufoy & Michael Andt have crafted a heart-pounding, exciting & thrilling story that had me engrossed from the beginning to a stunning ending. The performances from the entire cast were perfectly executed with emotion & toughness & humor provided by Stanley Tucci, once again playing the over the top host Caesar. The action scenes mixed with the special effects were amazing & intense. I can’t wait for the next installment of this fantastic series which is a hell of a lot better the awful Twilight films. I have to wait until Nov. 21, 2014 for The Hunger Games: Mockingjay - Part 1 & then a year after that for Part 2. MUST-SEE FILM. You can also experience Catching Fire in IMAX as well.
