THE IN-LAW CONTROVERSY: Therefore shall a man leave the father and mother and be joined to his wife and they shall become one flesh Gen. 2:24. A husband and wife are more closely associated with the husbands family than the wifes in most cases. The relationship with in-law can be loving to some and extremely hostile to some. More often than not, we hear more of the hostile stories. The mother -in-law is the most dreaded, followed by the sister-in-law. Father-in-law and brother-in-law are usually less troublesome. Most mothers find it difficult to break the bond they have with their sons, therefore see their daughter-in-laws as intruders and so treat them as the other women. As a mother-in-law, loving your daughter-in-law like your own, without prejudice is required. Rom. 12:18 ...live in peace with all men. Woman, do you need peace in your home? Then you must apply wisdom. Every wise woman builds her home but the foolish one plucks it down with her hands (Prov. 14:1). So be warned!
