THE INABILITY TO USE THE POSITIVE ODDS AS ADVANTAGE TO WIN - TopicsExpress

THE INABILITY TO USE THE POSITIVE ODDS AS ADVANTAGE TO WIN POLITICAL POWER All the signs favour one political party if we consider the odds. Politics is about numbers they say so it is very important to find means to get that number. To get the number necessary to win political power and therefore take leadership position of the country, the political parties must put necessary and strategic measures in place. I can confidently say that the NPP never fall short of outdoing their opponents. I am very sure many political analysts would agree with me that the NPP over the years have done perfectly well in putting measures in place to get numbers but continue to loose elections even when the odds favour them. So one might ask whether the attitude and utterances of some individuals are responsible for the abysmal failure of the party. One thing that baffles my mind, and I know am not alone, is the fact that many analysts and and commentators who are sympathetic towards the party seems to be compelled to sing praises of the party and therefore lose focus on doing constructive analysis. I my candid opinion there are three major means by which parties can reach out to win more people to their folk and increase the numbers. The first is the media. Today there are hundreds of private radio stations and print media across the country and some few private Television stations. The NPP comfortably control 90 to 95 percent of all the media houses in the country. There are severally known journalists working with various radio stations who will stop at nothing to show their bias towards the NPP. Only few of such can be told of the NDC as many of these media players openly show their hatred to the NDC. For example all the private televisions in Accra show total bias towards the NPP and almost all the major private radio stations show complete bias to the favour of the NPP. But is this really working to their advantage? The other means to use and get the many to get your political messages are the Clergy. Many Ghanaians are either Christians or Moslems who regularly visit their worshipping places. Majority of these religious people, if not all, revere their leaders and believe what they preach to the and even try to practice those. In this area as well the NPP is far above their counterparties when it comes to favours from religious leaders. I dont know how they did that but many religious leaders have no difficulty singing praises of the NPP as compared to the NDC or any other political party. Some find it no difficult at all criticizing opponents of the NPP at Churches while praying for God to help their leaders win political power. Finally is the showbiz fraternity. Many musicians and movie actors and actresses would not hesitate to declare their unflinching support to the NPP while going out teasing those colleagues who decide to join camp with the NDC. Most of the showbiz fraternity control the behaviour of the youths through their lyrics and catch words that are easily adopted by the party as slogans. All the above mentioned though very important tools, which are well used by the, refused over the years to propel the party to power. So one may ask what are the drawbacks? Many will remember the personalities such as the two times defeated candidate of the party Nana Akuffo Addo and his famous yen akan fu) and the all-die-be-die speech. Then we have young personalities like Sammy Awukus famous w)ma funu speech and the dangerous machinations against the Supreme court judges and Anthony Karbos Afghanistan speech. Then we have the famous General Secretary of the party Sir John who will stop at nothing to insult opponents at the little opportunity. Remember he has to serve a six months bond of good behaviour and a fine of 5,000 Ghana for such reckless talk? Then we have the irresponsible behaviour of many of the top hierarchy including the chairman sharing lands and other landed properties of the state among themselves. As we have Nana Akoffo Addo declaring his intentions to try his hands on the presidency for the third time running, I hope they will resolve to approach the electorates with different attitude while taking advantage of their hohd on the media, clergy and the showbiz fraternity. To the NDC, may be they should start putting mechanisms in place to increase their hold on the media, clergy and the showbiz fraternity while continue to maintain those strategies used over the periods which worked perfectly to their advantage. THE GAME HAS JUST BEGUN TOWARDS 2016 I WISH ALL GOOD LUCK BUT LETS ENSURE FAIR PLAY PREVAILS.
