THE INLAND EMPIRE AVIATION ROUNDTABLE IS BACK! The Inland Empire Aviation Roundtable will be starting its new season this Thursday (10/10). The IEAR presents Safety in the Skies –Air Traffic Control with speaker John Dutto. John Dutto served as an Air Traffic Controller in the United States Air Force, from 1974 to 1978. He became an FAA Air Traffic Controller in 1982 and retired after 29 years. Air traffic controllers are people trained to maintain the safe, orderly and expeditious flow of air traffic in the global air traffic control system. The position of air traffic controller is one that requires highly specialized knowledge, skills, and abilities. Controllers apply separation rules to keep aircraft at a safe distance from each other and move all aircraft safely and efficiently through their assigned sector of airspace. Because controllers have an incredibly large responsibility while on duty and make countless split-second decisions on a daily basis, the ATC profession is consistently regarded around the world as one of the most mentally challenging careers. The program starts at 7 p.m. and is free to the public.
