THE Islamic State flag – the death cult’s black and white - TopicsExpress

THE Islamic State flag – the death cult’s black and white symbol of hate – has been banned in many European countries from being flown in public, yet it remains legal in Australia. Germany, Austria, Switzerland and the Netherlands all have varying bans placed on the symbol that inspires extremist Muslim faatics around the globe. And in August, British Prime Minister David Cameron said police could arrest people who fly the flag in public in the UK. There is a growing push in Australia that the flag should be banned in a bid to reduce fanaticism. The federal government yesterday confirmed the flag was not banned, but said many actions associated to its use were now illegal. “Under Australian law it is not an offence in itself to fly a flag that is associated with any particular group,’’ a spokeswoman for the Attorney-General’s department said. “However, a range of offences apply to listed terrorist organisations. “Under Australian law it is an offence to be a member of the listed terrorist organisation, direct its activities, recruit for, train or receive training from the organisation, get funds to, or from the organisation, provide support to, or associate with the terrorist organisation.” The flag debate ignited in Australia in September after The Daily Telegraph revealed a Liverpool mosque had auctioned a black Shahada flag at a fundraiser. At the time, NSW Premier Mike Baird said banning the flag was something which could be considered in the future. Those against banning the flag believe the move could inflame hatred within Australia’s Muslim community.
