THE JOY OF SAX Clip Four. While Im not a Lou Reed fan this is a deserved classic, and if Bukowski were to have written a pop song in the third person he could hardly have done better. Reed describes the zeitgeist of Andy Warhols studio, referencing real characters of the time and scandalising RCA into the bargain. The solo at the end has become in itself the stuff of legend and funny how it trails the song out rather than separating verses. It perfectly captures the theme and makes itself indispensible musically. It was performed by Ronnie Ross who, so the legend goes, had taught David Bowie the saxophone many years before. youtube/watch?v=qkwD261MHsc
