THE JUDAS (BETRAYERS) HEART And Jesus said, Let her alone; why trouble ye her? she hath wrought a good work on me. For ye have the poor with you always, and whensoever ye will ye may do them good: but me ye have not always. She hath done what she could: she is come aforehand to anoint my body to the burying. Verily I say unto you, Wheresoever this gospel shall be preached throughout the whole world, this also that she hath done shall be spoken of for a memorial of her. And Judas Iscariot, one of the twelve, went unto the chief priests, to betray him unto them (Mark 14:6-11). What was it that pushed Judas over the edge and caused his heart to become so hardened as to betray the Lord that he walked with for three years? A careful look at the scriptures will reveal that he could no longer bear to hear the rebukes of Jesus Word anymore. As Jesus lovingly corrected Judas, his heart became offended. As a result, his heart became harder and harder. When Jesus asked all of the disciples to leave the woman alone, the rest of the disciples received this word with humility. But it was the last straw for Judas. His resistance to the reproofs of Jesus had developed a sinister heart that steadily moved from anger to hatred and then inevitably to betrayal. As the end approaches and the road narrows, many who have walked with Jesus for a period of time will no longer be able to bear the reproofs of His Word and will ultimately become betrayers of Him who they claim to love (Matt 24:10; 2 Tim 4:3,4). We must not mistake that it was for the money that Judas betrayed Jesus; it was something much deeper than money that led Judas to this cause. It was the exposure of his sin that he refused to let go of. Jesus stood in the way of Judas comfortably indulging in His lust, Judas hated to be corrected by Jesus! When Jesus touched his hearts idol, Judas chose to keep his idols living. This he chose even at the expense of the death of our Lord. Dearly beloved, the shaking has begun. Everything which has not been established by God must be visited, examined and then forsaken. God loves every one of us and is addressing things we should no longer hold to. Please do not become bitter and angry with the Lord, He chastens those who He loves. The key to overcoming the Judas heart is to humbly submit to the truth of scripture, even though it conflicts with our feelings and emotions.Correction can be grievous, but those who allow themselves to be exercised by it will yield the peaceable fruits of righteousness. Lord, give us hearts that respond kindly to your correction, We surrender even our feelings to you this day. Search us, examine us and deliver us from a Judas heart. In Jesus name, Amen.
