THE KASHMIR FLOODS 2014 Heard harrowing stories about Kashmir Floods and sufferings from a friend, M Ibrahim Shahdad, former chairman of JK Chamber of Commerce and Industries, currently Member, Board of Directors J&K Bank. Other friends have sent me list of things immediately required like small food packets, water, electoral powder, chlorine tablets for purifying water, foot wears, food ready to eat, biscuits, etc. I have access to about four lakhs (Rs 400000). We welcome voluntary help by any one. I try my little best to become a rallying point by taking an initiative only to be responded very generously by friends and others as was evident during earlier disasters in Gujarat, Kashmir and Rajasthan. In 2006 Barmer-Jaisalmer floods also we distributed one truck load of food, clothing, utensils and roasted grains, tea and sugar. It is very satisfying to oversea personally relief material being distributed to the needy. We had got massive good will and support. We do not for ourselves. Anyone can be dire situation. As is evident from JK floods which distorted social and religious boundaries during calamity and during relief works. Gratifying to hear that after flood Kashmir is emerging more unified and emotionally bonded as one people.
