THE LAUNCH OF THE JURISPRUDENCE ABSTRACT UNDER THE AUSPICES OF THE KHALAF AHMAD AL HABTOOR FOUNDATION The Khalaf Ahmad Al Habtoor Ramadan Majlis in Dubai launched the Jurisprudence Abstract co-published by the Imam Malik College for Sharia and Law and the Al Farooq Omar Bin Al Khattab Mosque under the auspices of Khalaf Ahmad Al Habtoor Foundation (KAHF).The book was launched in the presence of Khalaf Ahmad Al Habtoor, Chairman of the Al Habtoor Group; Sultan Al Habtoor, Chairman of KAHF Board of Trustees; Dr. Ahmed Abd El Aziz, the Grand Mufti of the Department of Islamic Affairs and Charitable Activities; Dr. Hafez Abdul Rahman Kheir, Professor of Jurisprudence in the Imam Malik College for Sharia and Law in Dubai - and editor of the book; Sheikh Fares Al Mustafa, Imam and preacher of the Al Farooq Omar Bin Al Khattab Mosque, and other UAE dignitaries and the media.Khalaf Al Habtoor talked about the eminent imams who greatly served the Islamic religion, in particular the imams who established jurisprudence schools that contributed to the creation of a broad scholarly movement based on the sciences of Islamic religion. He said that they have laid the foundation for schools providing the basics of jurisprudence concepts, thus those schools now play a significant role in finding adequate solutions to problems and issues faced by Muslims.During the launching ceremony, a debate session was held with the participation of the publisher and the editor. The audience discussed the content of the book, which is composed of 10 volumes. The first volume consists of four chapters’ featuringpurity, prayer funerals, and charity (zakkat). The remaining volumes highlight important legislative issues.Dr. Hafez Abdul Rahman, editor of the book, said that Ibn Arafa Abstract was an integrated jurisprudential encyclopedia dedicated by the author to the provisions of the Maliki jurisprudence (Maliki Fiqh), where he addressed issues that are rarely touched on in other publications. He highlight that the author deliberately elaborated on the neglected issues. The book is designed to be a reference for scholars and researchers, as it covers the most known sayings quoted from the Imams of the Malikischool until the end of the seventh Hijri century.Sultan Al Habtoor wrote in the books introduction, “The school of Imam Malik Ibn Anas is the backbone of the schools of Islamic jurisprudence given its unique features and many characteristics that put it at the forefront of those schools. The Jurisprudence Abstract is a unique model among writings on the Maliki School. His author establishes a distinguished jurisprudential approach that aims at enriching a realistic jurisprudence that touches peoples life and finds solutions to contemporary provisions.The book will be distributed free of charge to universities, libraries and research centers, as well as the Department of Islamic Affairs and Charitable Activities, the Department of Courts and the Islamic beacons across the Islamic world.
