THE LAW OF LOVE “The entire law and all the demands of the prophets are based on these commandments (Matthew 22:40) • Friends love is a law and when you don’t love you are guilty of being a law breaker. • Love is not a suggestion but an instruction. • Love involves emotions but is not an emotion. • Love is intentional and not accidental. • Love is not weak but powerful. It hopes, it believes and it endures and love lasts forever. Love doesn’t see people the way they are but they way they could be. Love and ministry: • If your ministry is not born out of love it is actually performance. • We are not called to preach but to love and our preaching should be a demonstration of love. • Praying for the sick should be born out of love and concern for their debilitating condition and not to demonstrate how powerful we are. • We should lead worship because we love God and not because we are gifted. The message of the Bible is not about power, healing, prosperity but about love. We prosper because God loves us and therefore we are loved whether we drive a car worth a million or whether we ride a bicycle. Our position in God is based on His love for us and on our performance for Him. We should therefore love people because of who they are in Him and not what they are to us.
