THE LEATHERMANS CAVE in Clinton Connecticut It is difficult to find Leathermans Cave, since Interstate 95 was built. It is near the junction of 145 and Interstate 95. in the NE corner. This was an area with a lot of high ledges and the Cave was on one of those ledges. Last time I rode by, there was an industrial center built close to the site. This cave was a good unique shelter for the Leatherman who probably suffered from mental illness and was rather anti social. My father mentioned him and knew how to find the Cave. The roof of the cave had a hole in it to let out the smoke and the entrance had to be crawled through on ones belly. Once inside one could stand up. I wonder if I am the only one living that knows this cave exist. I think it is great that all the wealthy people through time wanted to be remembered with huge grave stones, and yet this poor broken mans memory has survived the decades, and no one knew his name.
