THE LETTERS MISSING FROM INANE (LOVE LOST) The jaded limes flawed jalousie sifts the new sun in stains the dappled stairs and greens their deep descent and now the shades of our stir tremble in the bat of an eye Under the lindens cordate leaves blades cut at a lazy breeze flecks the pale light, gives a glimpse when oak and rope suspended your shame. Heres a summer hill terrace at a high noon crickets clicking like spinning six-shooters around parasols under the bell men of business sniffing their extra affairs brushing their hard-bitten nails over tanned legs itching for lunch to close and open the way to a more naked lunch pinioned between the iron-braced legs of her unchaste belt. Likewise, summer splices the day and moonlighting couples clink tankards of beer in her stride brought by waiters - monochrome bees With close-cropped skulls and darting asp tongues chorusing down muscled passages to the livid present and the blood wedding of a guilty affair sculls hounding down the past down rivers filled with pennies and sticks. And Im doing the rattle of images that jigsaws the past from its box teases odd echoes from worn-out phrases but always return to your late night swing your emerald dressed shake in the woods strangled by the shame expelled for a taste of wise-cored flesh. You lie now in your stippled plot under the jalousie of the jaded lime where you croaked in the lawns of the house that gave some respite a house some called mad but oasis for you there in the midst of the greying estate where a thousand blocks stifled millions of dreams your airy pound let your damaged mind breathe gave the wings it yearned for space to beat and when the time came again for shade to close down the act like fallen wings you roped and sacked your guilty secret to the branch of your plight and plot. And here, the couple split and leave for the double lives leave the moss green shades of late afternoon in whose I stipple you swing like sun on water. And the few days you spent in that oasis of calm where the lindens and lawns offered balm in the heart of the estate. you knew a good thing when you saw one and bolted right out when the curtains came down again.
