THE LION STILL ROARS! Today is a good day for Kenya. Notwithstanding our internal turmoil, the travel advisories against us, and the closure of a consulate, the world demonstrated its confidence in Kenya when investors offered to purchase $8.8b against the Government’s target of $2b. Our debut on the sovereign bond market made it the largest ever for an African county and that is dynamic! I see this as a sign of hope for a country whose potential is undisputed, whose international goodwill exists and whose people can soar IF with commitment, unity and deep resolve, we can overcome our current challenges. I hope we are strong enough to combat our enemies head on without fear or favor. I wonder if we have the courage to invest ourselves in the peace process for the sake of our children and theirs. Do we have the discipline to listen more than we speak, and act as one people…and not a region or tribe? This is my prayer. That our Government acts RUTHLESSLY against terrorists both local and foreign; and that we the people cease to view the apprehended exclusively through the prism of ethnicity. Today it is Omondi, tomorrow it will be “Njuguna.” Is the color of our blood any different? Tourists visit us for our hospitality and the warmth that we innately offer as KENYANS. Investors show interest when our STABILITY IS ASSURED. While yet restless about our state of affairs, I am choosing to pause for a second in celebration of this country, Kenya, and the good still within it. Cheers!
